This Taiwanese gem is actually a cross between a large-leaf Assamica variety and the native Taiwanese wild mountain tea. The result is a cultivar whose flavor profile is the best of both worlds. Rife with flavor notes of licorice and dark chocolate, this crown jewel of Taiwanese black teas trades any astringency for a gentle minty finish instead. This unique black tea is actually the product of years of research by Tea Research & Extension Station (TRES) in Taiwan, an effort which granted fellow black tea lovers a tea as rich in history as it is in flavor.
