A rare white stem tea from Malawi

A little-known white tea rarity from one of Malawi’s original tea estates dating from the 1920’s. Locally referred to as “The Antlers”, these charming, velvety stems are hand-sorted for their unique form. A radiant peach colored cup, full and highly aromatic.

FROM THE HEART OF AFRICA Malawi is the second largest producer of tea in Africa after Kenya, mainly producing CTC (crush, tear, curl) tea. But African Assamica - the variety traditionally used for CTC black tea - also has the capability to turn out delicately floral white teas. From one of Malawi's original tea estates, dating back to the early 1920's, we have sourced an unusual white tea: our Lapansi Antlers. The velvety stems resembling soft deer antlers are namesake of this charming white tea and are hand sorted from white tea production. The result is a smooth, golden peach coloured cup, with the luscious aromas of tropical flowers, stewed apricot and lychee.

An epiphany

Just when you think you'd tried everything under the sun. This came as an in-store recommendation, and I can honestly say I would never have given this tea any further thought. I was a little skeptical up to the point it came pouring out of my gungfu pot.
You wouldn't suspect it when you see these dark, dry twigs (hence the antlers), but they pack quite the fruit and flavour punch. I tasted apricot as the dominant flavour, but there were hints of roiboos and some vanilla or honey in the background. It's a good three-to-four brew and as refreshing as a proper orange wine on a hot summer's day!

Wow wow wow

My first white tea ever - I was amazed. Deep flavors, great color, does not need to be accompanied by a snack to be fully enjoyed. Will surely buy once again.

Outstanding fruity tea

I just love the freshness and kindness of this tea! There is a dominant peachy/apricot flavour which is just a delight to taste! Love it!

Hervorragend

Der Lapansi Anders ist Spitzenqualität. Er kann mehrfach aufgegossen werden, so dass der teure Preis es wert ist.
