Functional laboratory aesthetic meets Far Eastern tea culture: the new LAB teapot brings the origins of technical laboratory porcelain back to life with a typical feel for the product family and a distinctive side handle. The minimalist-technical design language of the LAB series is based on the aesthetics of the KPM laboratory porcelain of the 20th century. It was consistently developed for the modern kitchen laboratory by chief designer Thomas Wenzel. The teapot consists of a glossy, glazed top and a matt underside made of biscuit porcelain, the teapot scores with its distinctive side handle, which brings the origins of technical laboratory porcelain back to life. Paper & Tea supported KPM Berlin to develop an essential set as a functional aesthetic object for the minimalist tea ceremony.

Background Knowledge

The multifunctional line impresses with its timeless design and exceptional feel. All pieces of the steadily growing LAB family can be recognized by the chrome-green stamp and the lettering "KPM BERLIN". The green stamp already adorned the historic laboratory porcelain. Then as well as now it symbolizes design “handmade in Berlin”. The multi-functionality of the LAB family lies in the versatility and combinability of its members: minimalist plates become lids for bowls, and bowls become mugs. Complemented by spice mills, mortars, tins, and progressive products like the award-winning porcelain coffee filter with thermal function, LAB becomes an all-rounder for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Now chief designer Thomas Wenzel is expanding the product family again: The new LAB teapot with a capacity of 0.8 liters combines functional laboratory aesthetics and Far Eastern tea culture.

The tea set made of LAB teapot, integrated, particularly fine-meshed stainless steel tea strainer, high-quality oak board and ideal hand-flattering mug no. 1B (250ml) is rounded off by a very special P & T tea, the LAB Oolong N ° 403.
