How the tea tastes

Red Hibiscus

The vibrant red cup delights tea lovers with its sweet and tart notes and is naturally caffeine-free. Hibiscus, a beloved ingredient in herbal blends, takes the stage in RED HIBISCUS, allowing you to savor its refreshing, spicy-tart taste in full intensity.

The perfect brew, made easy

The preparation

Let the hibiscus flowers steep long enough to release their flavors fully into the warm water. For a more flavorful experience, use teapots made from neutral materials like glass.

The processing of the tea

We use whole, hand-plucked calyxes of the red hibiscus flower for our RED HIBISCUS. After cleaning, they are carefully dried—first in the sun and then in dehydrators. This process preserves their vibrant color and intense flavor.

The origin of the tea

Nestled in the picturesque landscapes of southeastern Africa are the farms from which we source our precious hibiscus calyces. In Malawi and Tanzania, the farms work in close partnership with small farmers from the surrounding region to cultivate and grow hibiscus. Our partner in Tanzania is actively involved in numerous social initiatives and has created valuable jobs at the women's factory.

FAQ about Red Hibiscus

Hibiscus tea is especially loved for its refreshing, slightly tangy flavour and is an excellent thirst-quencher in summer. It offers a vibrant alternative to other herbal teas.
Hibiscus tea contains no calories and is a sugar-free drink. It is a pleasant choice for anyone who enjoys naturally caffeine-free, aromatic beverages. Please note that our teas are intended purely for enjoyment, and we do not make any medical claims.
Hibiscus tea is known for its bold, pleasantly tart flavour, often reminiscent of cranberries. This fruity character makes it a popular choice among tea lovers.
Yes, hibiscus tea can be enjoyed both hot and cold. In summer, it is especially refreshing as an iced tea. In Egypt and Sudan, hibiscus tea, known as karkadeh, has a long tradition as a thirst-quencher.
Hibiscus tea should ideally be infused for 5 to 10 minutes. We recommend 5 minutes, but you can adjust the time to suit your taste and allow the hibiscus blossoms to fully release their intense flavour.
If hibiscus tea is infused for too long, it can develop a bitter taste. If that happens, adding a little boiling water can help soften the flavour.
There is no fixed amount, but it is best enjoyed in moderation. Around 2 to 3 cups per day is a moderate amount.
People who are sensitive to acidic drinks may wish to limit their intake. If you have any health concerns, it is best to consult a doctor.
